Seoul is the capital of South Korea and one of the biggest cities in the world. Over 10 million people live in Seoul and if you include the surrounding areas that number more than doubles to 25 million people. The weather in Seoul is hot and humid in summer and cold and wet in winter with temperatures around 30C in summer and 0C in winter. What to wear: In the summer, shorts and t-shirts are recommend. In the winter it gets bitterly cold so heavy clothing, a hat, scarf and gloves are required. For spring and autumn something in between is best.

Transportation is very convenient in Seoul with people using the Subways and Buses everyday. In the mornings and evenings during rush hour, the trains can get quite packed. It is best to avoid travelling during rush hour but it can be fun for the first few times after arriving in Seoul.

Seoul is broken up into 25-Gu (Districts). Within each district there are dong (neighbourhoods). Seoul has an excellent transportation system. Subway stations and bus stops are everywhere. If you use the subway and then transfer to a bus within 30 minutes of leaving the train station, you will get the bus journey for 100 won. You must be using your T-Money Card to obtain this special rate.
