Museum of Korea Straw and Plants Handicraft

Museum of Korea Straw and Plants Handicraft was opened in 1993 and was located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu. In 2001 it was moved to its current location near Hyehwa Station. The founder is Byung Sun-In who has devoted her whole life to research about straw. The museum follows the role of straw in the lives of Korean’s over thousands of years. In the museum you can learn about the many ways in which grass and straw played in the lives of Koreans. You can see a whole variety of items including shoes, baskets, dolls, hats etc. The museum has thousands of different items on display which also includes many folk related materials like clothes and tools.

Opening Hours / Admission

March – October: 10:00 am ~ 17:30 pm ( last admission 16:30 pm)
November – February: 10:00 am ~ 17:00 pm ( last admission 16:00 pm)

Admission:

Adults: 4,000 won
Child: 3,000 won
