Jungbu Market is Korea’s biggest stock-fish market. The market opened in 1957. Jungbu Market specializes in dried fish, other dried items, seaweed and traditional Korean sweets. The market is located in Jung-gu between Namdaemun Market and Dongdaemun market. All products at Jungbu Market are delivered directly to the market from their place of origin, keeping the prices low. You can expect to see a price difference of 10% to 30% off the normal supermarket prices.
The market opens early in the morning at 3 or 4am for the local merchants and stays open until 6pm. During the day you will see a lot of housewives visiting the market looking to pick up some bargains.
The market is interesting to visit as there are hundreds of shops selling all kinds of unique items. Trying to figure out what some of the fish are is impossible. They also sell a lot of Gim (edible seaweed) in large packs which is very popular among Japanese tourists.

How to get to Jungbu Market:
Take line 2 or 5 to Euijiro 4(sa)-ga station and leave exit 7. Head straight and take the 3rd left. Walk for 100 metres and Jungbu Market will be on your left.
