Banpo Bridge Water Fountain

Banpo Bridge Water Show Seoul

Banpo Bridge Water Fountain is located in Seoul along the Hangang River which is located beside the Hangang Park. In 2007 the Hangang Renaissance Project was launched to create, develop and revive the river area as a recreational area for locals and tourists to hang out. Part of this project was the Banpo Bridge Water Fountain. The fountain was named “Moonlight Rainbow”. The fountain shoots down 190 tons of water per minute to the river from each side of the bridge with its 380 nozzles. At night the color of the fountain will be transformed to that of a rainbow by the 200 lights that radiate various colourful effects.

In 2008 the Banpo Fountain made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest bridge fountain.

“The longest bridge fountain is located on the Banpo Grand Bridge over the Han River in Seoul (South Korea) which measures 1,140 metres (3,740 ft 1 in). It was constructed by Seoul Metropolitan Infrastructure Headquarters.”
